Jay Marching Band prepares for new year

The peal of Ethan Cartee’s trumpet solo opens “Avatar,” the Jefferson City High School Jay Marching Band’s 2012 field show.

Also a section leader, Cartee stands on the field with his fellow seniors for daily rehearsals and Friday’s football half-time show, determined to restore pride and respect to the band program.

Brett Myers is the director of bands this year, coming from eight years in the Hillsboro district and another four in Illinois. He has a master’s degree in conducting.
