Clinging to a 7-0 lead at halftime in its game with McCluer North, Jefferson City got down to business in the third quarter.
The Jays outscored the Stars 26-0 in that period en route to a 39-6 win Friday at Adkins Stadium.
The onslaught, which spilled into the fourth quarter, included five touchdowns in a little more than a seven-minute span.
"We just came out and executed offensively in the second half," Jefferson City head coach Ted LePage said.
The Jays, ranked eighth in the preseason Class 6 state poll, clearly used their conditioning and depth to wear down the Stars in the second half.
Elijah Pittman's 79-yard touchdown run with 6:40 left in the third quarter sparked the Jays.
After a defensive stop, the Jays drove 90 yards in a little more than a minute to take a 20-0 lead on a 6-yard touchdown run by Elijah Sherwood.
