Saturday, August 25, 2012
A brush fire closed down Highway 42 near Brumley for most of Friday afternoon.
At about 11:55 a.m., fire crews were called to a 30-acre brush fire at the 2200 block of Highway 42 near the Lake of the Ozarks State Park, according to Lake Ozark Fire Chief Mark Amsinger.
Shortly after fire crews arrived, local and state law enforcement were called in to help direct traffic through the Lake of the Ozarks State Park after Highway 42 was closed between Highway 134 and Route C in Miller County.
Until about 5:30 p.m., fire crews were still on the scene. Amsinger said many local agencies were called to assist the Osage Beach Fire Protection District, with Fire Chief Jeff Dorhauer as commander on scene, and the Brumley Fire Department. Those agencies that dispatched crews included Lake Ozark, Moreau, Iberia, Sunrise Beach, Eldon and Jefferson City.
In addition, Lake of the Ozarks State Park staff also assisted in directing traffic through the park.
The cause and origin of the fire were undetermined Friday evening.
