Russellville teacher faces sex charges
Friday, August 24, 2012
Russellville High School’s new head basketball coach began the school year on paid leave.
Scott White, 41, was charged last week in Barry County with four counts of first-degree statutory rape for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a child younger than 14.
He was arrested Tuesday and released on a $25,000 bond after Barry County Judge Victor W. Head reduced the original bond set on Aug. 13.

When is SOMEBODY going to talk about the former Ashland cheerleading coach that is accused of "illicit text messages with a 16 year old student" that was asked to resign and is still a teacher in the Jeff City Public School District?? Is it because she is a woman? Why are people covering this up?

That is sickening…

She is a teacher at Lawson School. You can get a copy of the report that was made public by the Ashland school board this week regarding the matter. Why isn't the schoolboard talking about it here? Or our own newspaper? Why isn't she being investigated here?

Just updating: I saw some of the comments posted in reqards to my comments and I can see that I was a bit rash with my comment but I'm just sick of seeing all these stories about abused children in the paper!

If he's found guilty, he should have to pay back every penny.

LuckNLove, that's not actually his "punishment." He's been charged, not convicted, so punishment isn't appropriate until he's actually convicted. Then he will be punished. For once I agree with Spel, but there may be some legal issues in retroactively taking his property from before a conviction. But, if the court wanted to impose a fine that just happened to equal his paid leave, in addition to jail time, that wouldn't bother me.

It shouldn't. Fines go to the schools anyway. A fine plus restitution would be more satisfactory.

Allegedly happened on school property.
Teacher's unions have nothing to do with him being on paid leave. He's only been arressted not convicted. And, it didn't happen in their district, so they don't have any idea what did or did not happen.
Time will tell.
I am sure the Barry County papers will have plenty of coverage.

Russellville's teachers are not unionized.

The accusation, according to KY3 TV in Springfield:
"White has been gone from Exeter for more than a year, but he's now accused of repeatedly raping a 13-year-old girl, at least once during school hours, during his time in Exeter. The girl told investigators that White had sex with her four times from April to May of 2011 inside the Exeter School building. It wasn't until last November that she told a faculty member at her new school."
I'm sure he will get his day in court...

This happens all the time. Teachers/coaches that get in trouble and have the option to quit in lieu of discharge. By quitting the leaving school cannot or will not give details for the separation. So they go to other schools and do the same thing. Shame on dept of education, schools and our government for giving them rights they don't deserve. One school gets rid of a counselor for being inappropriate and goes to another school and does it again. Parents gave to speak up and the should not be able to quit and keep a clean record.

He was a teacher in the school and then they had him as a full time sub. This incident was not the reason he was not rehired.

While people are ready to persecute him, are you as ready to forgive IF it turns out to be untrue? Hope justice is served either way.

The only things I found was that he entered a not guilty plea and is free on bond. next court appearance is Sept 20.
