FORISTELL, Mo. (AP) - An eastern Missouri man is facing felony child abuse charges for using a hose to spray his 6-year-old stepson for 30 minutes because the boy didn't do his chores.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/R7VOWV ) reports that 40-year-old Joseph Paul Knyff of Foristell is charged in the incident that allegedly happened in July. He is jailed on $15,000 cash-only bond and does not yet have a listed attorney.
Knyff told police he sprayed the boy for failing to pick up grass clippings in the yard. The child's mother said she turned off the hose after 20 minutes, but her husband turned it back on.
Police said that even though it was hot outside, the boy was shivering from the cold water when they arrived.
