Callaway County’s jobless rate increases

During July the number of unemployed Callaway Countians increased by 145 as workers without jobs continues to increase in the county and throughout the state.
Statewide, unemployment also is growing rapidly. The number of Missourians counted as unemployed increased 17,518 during July.
Missouri’s not-seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate increased from 7.0 percent in June to 7.5 percent in July.
Callaway County’s jobless rate has been creeping up for the last four months. In July, it shot up to 6.9 percent.
