Must be a culture that I don't understand. Two weeks ago we said no to more money, now this. Are those that keep putting the convention center up for vote a part of this?

Time to clean house.

Big brother is watching!

They're still under the 20 cent levy that was voted on 48 years ago. I voted FOR the increase but people in this town go into apoplectic fits whenever pennies are talked about that I'm sure many just voted "NO" and didn't truly realize what they were killing. Shame.

What good did it do the voters of the area to cast their votes - the board just did what they wanted to do anyway? This is exactly what is wrong with the American system - it does what it wants to do regardless of what the people want to happen - we don't really have a voice in how our government operates!!

Would they need more money if they didn't spend it on things like architectural drawing and models of a building that they didn't have funding for on a piece of ground that wasn't theirs?Just another case of govt putting the cart ahead of the horse. And yes I understand that they are not at the max limit that WAS voted on and I have no problem with that.I realize that books will never entirely be replaced by electronic media.Did I miss the purpose of the tax increase they wanted?Maybe they should be courting one of the local millionaires that would like to leave their name on a nice big new state of the art library.

The wording on this article is not good! The library didn't raise the tax levy! They aren't even using their full .20 cents they were approved back in 1964! They're raising it to almost the .20 cents they were approved 48 years ago! Typically a community is suppose to support their local library. Not criticize and hate on it all the time! Truth is you can't satisfy everyone, and somebody is always going to complain about the way the library spends the tax payers money. It's pathetic how this community treats their library. As if a little support would kill everyone!
