It’s no secret having one great pitcher can carry a softball team throughout a season.

But what if a team doesn’t have a true No. 1 starter? More offense.

“I don’t want to jinx myself, but up and down the lineup this is the best offensive group that I’ve had since I’ve been here,” Jefferson City head coach Lisa Dey.

The Lady Jays, who open the season at 4 p.m. today at Lincoln Field against defending Class 4 state champion Troy, have a void to fill in the circle.
