2 Columbia women arrested in connection with JC car theft

While on routine patrol around 9 p.m. Tuesday, a Boone County Sheriff's Deputy performed a traffic stop of a vehicle on eastbound I-70 at Stadium Boulevard in Colubmia.

The vehicle was believed to be stolen from the Jefferson City area.

The vehicle was occupied by two females who claimed to have received the vehicle from another suspect.

The investigation into the stolen vehicle is on-going by the Jefferson City Police Department.

During the traffic stop and subsequent investigation, evidence of drug possession was located and information was obtained indicating the female passenger was in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine.

The female driver, 54 year old Columbia resident, Nancy L. McDaniel, was arrested for one count of Tampering with a Motor Vehicle in the 1st Degree, Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance (Crack Cocaine), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. McDaniel's bond was set at $9,500.00.

The female passenger, 50 year old Columbia resident Teresa A. Whittington, was arrested for Possession with the Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, Tampering with a Motor Vehicle in the 2nd degree, Tampering with Evidence, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Bond for Tampering with a Motor Vehicle, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia was set at $1,500.00. Bond for methamphetamine possession with intent to distribute has yet to be set by a judge.
