CRMC employee hit, killed in St. James

A respiratory therapist who worked at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City was hit by a vehicle while out for an early morning run Sunday in St. James and later died from her injuries.

Lisa Persicke, 44, St. James, was training to compete in a marathon when she was hit.

St. Louis station KSDK-TV reported on its website that Persicke was running along Old U.S. 66 — the outer road of Interstate 44 — and that her husband was following her on a bicycle when the accident happened.

She was flown by helicopter to a St. Louis area hospital, where she died.

St. James’ police chief was not available late Monday to provide more information.

Phelps County Prosecutor John D. Beger on Monday charged James W. Krewson, 76, St. James, with involuntary manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident.

His bond was set at $100,000.

Both charges are Class D felonies that include a possible sentence of up to four years in a state prison, if there’s a conviction.
