I don't think this has anything to do with disease, but since coming to Missouri I've seen bugs and spiders and really big worms that dang near gave me a heart attack. The latest scarey thing is a green worm with orange on the top side. It looked like something from outer space. Anyone know what it is? It was about 2 inches long and needed to be on a diet.

Sounds like a Gummy Worm. They are native to Missouri.

Any recommendations for the leeches at city hall?

I am betting on a hornworm. One of them with the red/orange horn. I forget if red indicates tobacco or tomato.

I googled the hornworm and thats not what I saw. It was a lime green in color with small orange coloring and black around the orange and there were 3 or 4 of the orange/black round areas on the top of it. It's like nothing I've ever seen. Thank you for replying connor andjanuary. Gummy worm. I haven't googled that one yet.

:) Are you talking about a worm or a caterpillar. If you're talking caterpillar check out: Spicebush Swallowtail.

Thank you for taking the time to help identify the green thing but I was just now all over the internet....again..and finally found out what it is. Its called a cut worm. I'm amazed at all the new bugs, worms, spiders and I'm here to tell you spiders scare the bejabbers out of me...that I'm running across. A month or so ago there were moles digging up the yard which was also a first. Little by little I'm learning new things but the best thing is how many nice people there are, so once again, thank you. I'm glad to be here even though the bugs scare me sometimes.
