Two Mid-Missouri men arrested in drug bust

Two men are being held in the Cole County Jail in connection with a Wednesday drug bust.

Jason Carwile, 29, Russellville, is charged with second-degree drug trafficking and resisting arrest. Travis Hicks, 29, Eldon, is charged with resisting arrest.

According to Cole County Sheriff’s Department reports, deputies responded about 1 p.m. to 5417 Collier Lane in reference to suspicious activity of narcotics use.

Upon arrival, deputies saw Carwile and Hicks outside the apartment. Carwile tossed what was believed to be drugs on the ground, and a foot pursuit began.

More Cole County units and the Missouri Highway Patrol responded to the area. Eventually, Carwile and Hicks were taken into custody.

The drugs were later identified as 48 grams of methamphetamine, valued at approximately $5,000, and several miscellaneous pills.

Carwile has seven felony convictions and was last arrested in May in Moniteau County for distribution of a controlled substance.

Good Job, Sheriff and Deputies! Now let's hope the court doesn't drop the ball on these cretins again. Lock 'em up with Bubba and toss the key down the toilet.
