JC Council sails through budget discussions

The Jefferson City Council made quick progress in the budget process Thursday, going through several proposed expenditures before adjourning.

At the Budget Committee meeting Thursday, the council made it through eight line items in the mayor's proposed budget for the next fiscal year without changing any of the proposed items.

The council approved expenditures for the city administrator's salary, health insurance premiums and retirement increase, a reduction for city vehicles, increased Salute to America funding, cuts to the Public Arts Commission, increase in contractual services and funds for professional services in the Finance Department.
