The American Red Cross this month is joining a growing list of groups identified by special license plates in Missouri.

Gov. Jay Nixon signed a bill July 6 adding the Red Cross and six other groups to the organizations authorized to issue specialty license plates through the Revenue Department - bringing that number to 73.

"One of the things we try to do with the American Red Cross is make people aware of who we are and what we're doing," said Dave Griffith, executive director of the Jefferson City-based Heart of Missouri chapter.
