With the scorching temperatures that have been drying out the state for the last couple months, finding a way to turn up the heat is probably the last thing on the minds of most Missourians.

But, in a number of weeks, cooler weather will prevail, and warmth will be welcomed again.

“Homeowners build fireplaces for the heat and the ambiance,” said Linda Bogg, co-owner of Best Fire Inc. Stove and Fireplace Center. “People like to look at the flames of a fire. It is mesmerizing.”

Fireplaces have three major categories which include gas, electric and wood burning.
