People speak out against Jefferson City transit cuts

More than 90 people filled the City Council chambers Thursday to show their opposition to proposed transit cuts.

About 27 people spoke against the potential cuts to the city’s transit system that are included in the mayor’s proposed budget.

“It’s going to hurt a lot of us,” said Herbert Reed. “There’s a lot of us (who) depend on these buses ... What are we going to do?”

Cut the Chamber subsidies instead. We don't need Transformation. We need bus service for poor people more.

Wow, 90 people attending the committee meeting! It's about time people get involved in their government. Kudos to those attending! Do you think the City Council might start paying attention to their constituents? I guess that is expecting too much.

Think those trees are dormant, as this was a March 2012 photo. Probably dead or dying now, though. Much rather see transit subsidies for folks that need it than some of city hall's giveaways to pets and their projects.
