Your Opinion: Response to Heeren on McCaskill's record

Dear Editor:

This letter is in response to Rebecca Heeren's letter printed in the News Tribune Aug. 3 attempting to depict opponents to Sen. McCaskill as reckless, ultra-conservative fringe and tea party zealots. The only response I can make to her ridicules plea for Republicans to vote for Sen. McCaskill is if you want another four years of socialism, culture destruction and debt then by all means vote for her.

To confirm my point all one has to do is go to http://votesmart.org/candidate/key-votes/2109 and see how she has voted during her term in office. Of course the major issue she has supported with her vote was the "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act" (Obamacare). As we all should know by now this legislation is the most damaging legislation in our nation's history from all aspects. Another vote Sen. McCaskill cast was in support of the "Carbon Emissions Cap & Trade Plan" which if it had passed we could expect our electric bills to increase as much as 50 percent. Other issues she consistently supported at every opportunity are government funding of abortions, government employee unions, "Cash for Clunkers", repeal of the "don't ask don't tell" military policy and bans on offshore drilling for oil.

She supported liberal Supreme Court Justice appointments of Elana Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor. If you are concerned about future leftist Supreme Court decisions as am I, then one can expect only a yea vote for a liberal judge from Sen. McCaskill.

She has voted in opposition to her Republican colleagues Sen. Kit Bond and Sen. Roy Blunt's positions on issues almost 60 percent of the time during her term in office and voted with Barack Obama 98 percent of the time. I don't think anyone Democrat or Republican would consider Sen. Bond, former governor of Missouri, or Sen. Blunt to be reckless, ultra-conservative or tea party zealots which Heeren apparently labels anyone who opposes Sen. McCaskill.

I cannot believe how anyone can say Sen. McCaskill, is good for Missouri (or the nation) based on her voting record. She has been proven by her voting record to be a rubber stamp for Barack Obama and his record is so deplorable he can't even run on it. Ms. Heeren's letter is obviously from the Democrat playbook for this election which is "the only way we can win is to destroy the (Republican) opponent(s) with whatever it takes".
