Your Opinion: Obama appointees promote abortion

Dear Editor:

Fellow practicing Catholics and others of faith who want to keep our freedom of religion, the Obama administration has declared war on our freedom of religion through the persons they have in charge of various departments of the government and policies put in place.

In 2007, Obama told Planned Parenthood "The first thing I'd do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act," a bill that would eliminate federal, state and local restrictions on abortion.

He has nominated or appointed ardent proabortion officials and advisors including: Former Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel who has a 0 percent pro-life voting record from the National Right to Life; pro-abortionist Jeanne Lambrew as deputy director of the White House office of Health Reform, a choice that "excited" Planned Parenthood; Melody Barnes, another Emily's List board member, as director of Domestic Policy Council; Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who has a pro-abortion voting record and supported making unlimited abortions an international right; former Sen. Tom Daschle, who failed to become his HHS secretary, a wellknow abortion advocate; former NARAL legal director Dawn Johnsen served on his department of Justice review team; Ellen Moran, former director of the pro-abortion outfit Emily's List as White House Communications director. Emily's list supports only candidates who favor taxpayer-funded abortion and opposes a partial-birth abortion ban.

Catherine Sebelius as HHS secretary gave us the sterilization and contraception mandate in Obama care claiming that "the reduction in the number of pregnancies compensates for the cost of contraception." She argues that the preventing services mandate pays for itself because fewer babies are born - babies that would otherwise need health care. HHS said that its preventive services mandate aims to "help stop health problems before they start". Perhaps this why Vice-president Biden endorsed China's forced abortion, one-child policy in a speech he made there.

Cardinal DiNardo, Archbishop of Galveston-Houston and chairman of the USCCB Committee on Pro-Life Activities said, "Pregnancy is not a disease, and children are not a health problem - they are the next generation of Americans."

Obama, through executive order, lifted the ban on embryonic stem cell research even though it has been show that adult stem cell research, which does not destroy human life, is more effective.

Fellow Catholics, please pray to the millions of abortion martyrs for the grace to vote against the people who are tearing down our freedom of religion.
