Missing boy's body found in eastern Mo. river

PACIFIC, Mo. (AP) - Searchers have found the body of a 12-year-old eastern Missouri boy who disappeared after saying he was going to swing on a rope over the Meramec River.

St. Louis County police say the body of Christopher Marks, of Affton, was recovered Tuesday afternoon about six miles downstream from where the search began. There was no immediate word on the cause of death.

Christopher was last seen about 7:30 p.m. Sunday on an outing with relatives in the Pacific Palisades Conservation Area.

County Police Chief Tim Fitch says authorities received a report Tuesday about a body in the water. Crews in boats and a helicopter searched the area and found the body.
