Capital ranked 39th in magazine
Business publication ranks top relocation, site-selection sites

Jefferson City has been ranked No. 39 in the “100 Leading Locations for 2012” by Area Development magazine.
The magazine ranked 365 metropolitan statistical areas across 23 economic and workforce growth indicators. The metropolitan statistical area for Jefferson City includes Cole, Callaway, Moniteau and Osage counties, bringing the population to 149,807.
Jefferson City was ranked No. 16 in “Top 50 Small Cities,” No. 9 in “Top 20 Midwest Cities” and No. 5 in “Top 25 Small Cities - Prime Workforce Growth.”

So? Columbia has a HUGE university crowd to draw money from, Ellis-Fischel State Cancer Hospital, and Interstate 70 traffic.
