Firefighters battle Fulton blaze

The Fulton Fire Department responded around 6:40 p.m. Thursday to a residential structure fire at 1009 Chippewa Drive.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered heavy smoke was showing from the roof and flames showing from the west side of a single-story home. They were able to bring the fire under control within 20 minutes.

No occupants were inside the building at the time. A neighbor reported the fire after seeing heavy smoke coming from the house.

Damages were estimated at $60,000 to structure and contents.

Investigators from the fire and police departments and the state fire marshal's office were investigating the cause, but nothing appeared suspicious initially.
