State sales tax holiday set this weekend
Thursday, August 2, 2012
This weekend Central Missouri shoppers won’t be paying the 4.225 state sales tax on back-to-school purchases. It’s the ninth annual tax break given to parents who want to save money on computers, clothes and school supplies.
Everyone throughout the state will get the full break on the state’s 4.225 percent sales tax on eligible purchases. The three-day state sales tax holiday on certain items only starts at midnight on Friday and continues through Sunday.
Most Missouri cities and counties that impose local sales taxes are not participating in the tax savings for back-to-school shoppers.

Check the news paper to see what cities are STILL charging sales tax anyway. And then if your planning to buy large items you might want to go else where. Let the stores eat the large items in those counties.
