The Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has filed new charges against three individuals suspected of using stolen credit cards at a number of Fulton convenience stores, and the Fulton Police Department has turned the case over to the Secret Service.
In addition to the initial charge of felony stealing by deceit, Prosecuting Attorney Chris Wilson said Monique Q. Collins, 26, of Chicago, faces 10 new counts of forgery. George Franklin, 39, of Chicago, and Hadjii E. Covington, 40, of Racine, Wisc., also face 10 charges of forgery for acting in concert with Collins.
"It had to do with signing credit card receipts purporting to be the person authorized (to do so)," Wilson said, noting the charges involve multiple transactions at two different convenience stores.
He said the new charges could have an impact on the bonds set for the three suspects - $20,000 cash-only each.
"The court ordered a bond study," Wilson said. "The judge will take those (new charges) into consideration when making their decision.
"At this point it's $20,000 cash only, and we want to keep it at least that."
