Injured pedestrian's condition upgraded

A female pedestrian who was hit by a pickup truck Tuesday night in Jefferson City was upgraded to fair condition Wednesday afternoon at a Columbia hospital.

Police report Sade Owens, 22, Jefferson City, was struck at 9:27 p.m. while walking "with traffic" in the 3500 block of Amazonas Drive near Candlewood Suites Hotel.

She was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, then taken by Staff for Life helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia, where she had been listed in critical condition early Wednesday.

The driver of the pickup, 24-year-old Kyle Reeves of Festus, was not hurt, and has not been cited with any violation.
