In golden shirts with gleaming smiles, volunteers with the Missouri Southern Baptist Disaster Relief feeding crew served a hot meal to more than 100 clergy and lay people Tuesday at the Missouri Faith-based Organization Disaster Initiative Workshop.

"We're here because they asked us to come," said Ron Hahs, team leader.

The same could be said when a disaster strikes.

The feeding crew has responded to crisis situations across the nation and in Missouri, including the tornado aftermath in Joplin.

They partner particularly with the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army to provide full meals to victims of a tragedy for an extended period of time.
