More than 300 people volunteered their time Saturday morning to clean up various areas throughout the area as part of the first SERVE Jeff City event.
The volunteers gathered on Madison Street for a pancake breakfast before splitting into groups and heading to more than 11 project sites throughout the city, including the West Edgewood greenway, East McCarty Street roundabouts and High Street projects.
Cienna O’Donnell, 10, volunteered with her Girl Scout troop and helped with planting and mulching in the downtown area. Alongside O’Donnell was Brianna Caton, 9, who said she just wanted to help.
