Mira Lee, a senior at Missouri Western State University and a renowned pianist, will perform Tuesday at Lincoln University’s Mitchell Auditorium in Jefferson City.

International piano award winner Mira Lee will perform with the Jefferson City Symphony Orchestra (JCSO) at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lincoln University’s Mitchell Auditorium.

Lee won the annual JCSO Piano Concerto Competition.

She is a three-time winner of the Korean national competition and a graduate of the Seoul Arts High School.

A senior at Missouri Western State University, Lee recently was a featured performer at the World Piano Conference in Serbia.

Conducting the symphony during Lee’s solo, “Piano concerto No. 3, Op. 26” by Sergei Prokofiev, will be Matthew Edwards, associate professor of music and director of keyboard studies at Missouri Western.

The symphony also will perform Prokofiev’s “Lieutenant Kije, Op. 60,” Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Capriccio Espagnol, Op. 34,” and “Star Trek Through the Years” arranged by John Moss.

Marty Gardner will narrate the concert made possible with support from the Jefferson City Concert Association and the Missouri Arts Council.

As it is the final concert of the season, the symphony will recognize its members who are seniors in high school — Shannon Merciel, William Reagan, and Jared Rivera.

The symphony also will announce Tom Higgins as the new assistant conductor, replacing principal cellist Linda Lloyd.

Higgins, who teaches music at Linn High School, performs on timpani and is percussion coordinator for the symphony.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students and may be purchased in advance at www.thejcca.org.
