JCFD sales tax to be reintroduced
Friday, April 20, 2012
An altered proposal from the Jefferson City Fire Department to put a potential switch from a property tax to a sales tax on the August ballot will be reintroduced to the City Council next month.
The new proposed ordinance adds a sunset provision of 15 years, which would potentially end the one-fourth cent sales tax Dec. 31, 2027. It also eliminates a section that had stated the intent to allocate any funds no longer needed for the Fire Department to the Police Department.
