If you’re not ready for Tax Day, at least ready yourself for some local Tax Day discounts.
Some businesses, both local shops and national chains, are offering freebies or discounts today. For retailers, it’s a way to get customers into their businesses, while also offering them relief from the reins of Uncle Sam.
“It’s a win-win relationship with the customer,” said Joseph Gatheright, owner of Gatheright’s Resale, 710 Jefferson St. “It costs me, but they can save a little money and maybe they’ll come back in the future.”
Unfortunately, Jefferson City doesn’t have some of the chains that are offering discounts, including Panda Express, Cinnabon, Bruegger’s, Office Depot, Hooters, PF Changs, IHOP, Boston Market and Marble Slab. But if you’re traveling, keep them in mind.
As for Jefferson City, here are the local deals that we know of:
Arby’s: free value fries. “Like” them on Facebook to get the coupon.
Chili’s: free appetizer or dessert with online coupon.
Sonic: half-priced drinks and slushes all day.
McDonald’s: Buy one Quarter Pounder or Big Mac, get one for 17 cents.
Switchin’ Britches: an additional 7.725 percent off everything.
Gatheright’s Resale: 20 percent off everything.
The Bag Lady Exchange: 17 percent off everything.
Staples: Need copies of your tax documents? Staples offers up to 30 black and white copies free.
We don’t purport to know all the deals being offered today, so feel free to add any that you know of to our comment forum below.
Correction: Gatheright's Resale is the correct name of the business. The original version of this article contained an incorrect name. The error has since been corrected in the text above.
