The Jefferson City wrestling program veered from the norm a little bit when it decided to go to the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga last summer for its team camp.

The decision helped land Jared Johnson a full-ride wrestling scholarship as he signed a letter of intent Monday to wrestle at the school.

"Going to camp put me on their radar," Johnson said.

Tennessee-Chattanooga got a look at Johnson when the Jays visited and saw something they liked, something that can't necessarily be coached: his work ethic.
