Trash service to offer spring pickup

Jefferson City will have its annual spring pickup starting Monday.

Allied Waste will collect bulky items left at the curb from residential customers Monday and April 23. Residents living east of Jefferson Street should have items at the curb by 5 a.m. Monday, while those living west of Jefferson Street will have items picked up after 5 a.m. April 23.

Items accepted by Allied include furniture, mattresses, microwaves, televisions and tied bundles of scrap material under 4 feet in length.

Bags or boxes of debris, tires, yard waste, appliances, rocks, bricks, concrete, car parts, acid batteries and waste oil will not be picked up.

The city also will host an e-waste and appliance collection from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. April 21 at the Midwest Recycling Center on Highway 179 and a pharmaceutical take-back program from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. April 28 at the alley entrance to the police department.
