Reading Buddies looking for teen mentors
Thursday, April 12, 2012
Missouri River Regional Library (MRRL) is looking for teenagers who are willing to volunteer this summer to help a younger student become a better reader as part of the 2012 Reading Buddies program.
“Many times, a child can be hesitant or uninterested about reading because they haven’t been able to find material that appeals to their interests,” said Angie Bayne, MRRL’s children’s librarian. “Teen mentors will not only help children select materials that are interesting to them but also appropriate for their current reading comprehension level.”
Teen volunteers must be 12-18 years old and enjoy working with children. Applications must be postmarked by May 11. The teen mentor application can be downloaded at www.mrrl.org.
