Mo. House endorses amendment on making ammunition

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - State House members have approved a proposed amendment to the Missouri Constitution guaranteeing the right to own and manufacture ammunition.

The state constitution currently protects the right of Missourians to bear arms to defend themselves, their homes and their property.

The proposed amendment would add new protections for the right to possess, purchase, reload and manufacture ammunition. It also would allow people to manufacture or purchase parts needed for firearms to work properly.

House members endorsed the measure 121-31 on Tuesday. It needs another vote before moving to the state Senate, and could go on the statewide ballot later this year.
