Cole County ponders siren sites, funding
Wednesday, April 11, 2012
Cole County commissioners want more time to discuss how they will fund new warning sirens for the county.
Last month the Jefferson City Council chose Meyer Electric among six venders who submitted bids to install 12 new digital sirens in the city for $300,000.
At Tuesday’s commission meeting, Bill Farr, Cole County emergency management director, and Melissa Johnson, county GIS coordinator, ranked 22 potential siren sites in the county by density of population as well as topography to try and cover as big of an area as possible.
