Southwest Mo. state park offers guided bison hike

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Bison lovers looking to see the majestic animals up close can participate in a guided hike at Prairie State Park in southwest Missouri.

The free hike takes place April 21 at 10 a.m. as part of the park's Earth Day celebration.

Prairie State Park is located in Barton County near the town of Mindenmines on the Missouri-Kansas border. It features tallgrass prairies that once covered much of Missouri.

More than 100 bison and 25 elk have been reintroduced into the park, where a naturalist will lead the hike.
