Calvary Lutheran ready for a real home debut

Lions to show off home field Monday

Calvary Lutheran High School will get to know the meaning of "home opener" in its purest form Monday afternoon.

That's because for the very first time, the school's baseball team will step foot on the field at their Jefferson City campus for an official game.

It's a day that's been a long time coming, especially for a dedicated core group of volunteers who've been working for months to make this a reality.

"Let me think of synonyms for ecstatic," group member Lance MacLaughlin said.

Calvary has a co-op agreement with Tolton High School from Columbia to field a joint team when it comes to baseball. But when the Lions host St. Elizabeth at 4 p.m. Monday, the game will really serve as a showcase for Calvary.
