Hilpert is new JC city attorney

After a national and local search process, the Jefferson City Council has approved the selection of Drew Hilpert as city counselor. Hilpert had been serving as interim city counselor for Jefferson City for the past nine months. Prior to serving as interim city counselor, he had been the associate city counselor since August 2006.

Hilpert received his certification by the Missouri Bar in April 2001, and earned his law degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in December 2000. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Mo., in

December 1997.

As city counselor, Hilpert’s main responsibilities include providing legal and procedural advice to Jefferson City elected officials, advising various city committees, and drafting and reviewing

ordinances. He will also represent the city on behalf of and serve as legal advisor to

Administrative Hearing officers before the Liquor Control Board, hazardous building hearings, nuisance hearings, business license disciplinary actions, employee disciplinary actions and mural hearings among others.

Hilpert and his wife, Rebecca, have two children. They currently reside in Columbia, Mo., and plan to move to Jefferson City within the next six months.

HTF is this a national search.? What a joke...Mr. Hilpert is cut from the same cloth as the last Joker who held the spot. Who were the other candidates from around the nation that were vetted for this all very important position. Besides a degree, what expereince does Mr. Hilpert have which makes him the best person for the job? National selection process MFBA.

Mr. Hilpert I'm not knockin you...but the way this article reads and the past behavior of the city council...you got your new job simply because you played the game the way the Head Shed wanted you to and..... you were the next person in line.
