Decomposed body identified as Camdenton man

CAMDENTON, Mo. (AP) - Nearly a month after a decomposing man's body was found in a Camden County field, the Missouri State Highway Patrol has identified him as 44-year-old Edwin Duncan of Camdenton.

The body was found Sept. 7 after the Camden County Sheriff's Office received a call from someone pointing it out. Two days later an autopsy could not identify the body because of advanced decomposition, so DNA was collected to help in the investigation.

On Friday, the Patrol identified the man after running his DNA through its CODIS system.

Officials say there were no signs of traumatic injury to suggest Duncan died from violent means.

The Sheriff's Office says the county's medical examiner is awaiting toxicology reports to determine cause of death.
