Wednesday's NHL Preseason Capsules

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Lubomir Visnovsky scored in the third period and the Anaheim Ducks spoiled Vancouver goalie Roberto Luongo's preseason debut with a 3-2 victory over the Canucks on Wednesday night.

Visnovsky scored on a slap shot during a power play at 5:08 of third. Jonas Hiller made 31 saves and withstood the Canucks' 6-on-4 power play in the final minute.

It was the first game for Luongo and Daniel and Henrik Sedin since the Canucks lost to Boston in the Stanley Cup finals. Luongo made 19 saves.

The Canucks (2-4) erased a 2-0 deficit in the second period with goals by Sami Salo and Henrik Sedin.

The Ducks (3-3) scored twice in 66 seconds late in the first period. Cam Fowler broke in on the right side of the goal and wristed a shot that deflected off defender Mark Mancari's stick and into the net with 3:25 left. Bobby Ryan scored on a wrist shot from well above the right circle with 2:19 remaining.

Blackhawks 4, Red Wings 3

CHICAGO (AP) - Marian Hossa broke a tie with a 5-on-3 power-play goal midway through the third period and Chicago rallied to beat Detroit.

Hossa, appearing in his first preseason game, beat goalie Ty Conklin from the top of the right circle after taking drop pass from Patrick Kane.

Kane, Brent Seabrook and rookie Ben Smith also scored for Chicago (2-2-1). Duncan Keith had three assists.

Fabian Brunnstrom had two goals for Detroit (2-3-0) and Drew Miller also scored.

Kane appeared in his first game since undergoing left wrist surgery in July. Coach Joel Quenneville played the star forward at center on a line with Hossa, who was on right wing, and left wing Andrew Brunette. Kane has skated almost exclusively at right wing in his four NHL seasons.

Jets 3, Hurricanes 1

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) - Evander Kane scored twice in the third period, Chris Mason made 17 saves, and Blake Wheeler also had a third-period goal for Winnipeg (3-3).

Tim Brent scored in the second period for Carolina (1-3).

Kane tied it with a power-play goal at with 9:15 left, Wheeler gave the Jets the lead with 8:11 remaining, and Kane added an empty-net goal in the final minute.

Brian Boucher made 35 saves for Carolina.

Kings 6, Avalanche 0

DENVER (AP) - Anze Kopitar scored three goals and Jonathan Quick stopped 27 shots for Los Angeles.

Slava Voynov and former Avalanche player Brad Richardson also scored in the second period for Los Angeles (2-1-2), and Justin Williams added a goal.

Colorado goalie Semyon Varlamov, an offseason acquisition from Washington, allowed four goals on 14 shots in the second period. The Avalanche dropped to 1-3-0.

Predators 4, Capitals 1

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Defenseman Shea Weber had a goal and an assist for Nashville.

Colin Wilson, Matt Halischuk and Cal O'Reilly also scored for Nashville The Predators have won four straight to improve to 5-1 in the preseason. Mathieu Perreault scored for Washington (1-3-1).
