Toyota global production bounces back in August

TOKYO (AP) - Toyota Motor Corp. says its global production rose for the first time in a year in August.

Japan's biggest automaker says its worldwide output climbed 10.6 percent from a year earlier to 626,817 vehicles. Production rose at both domestic and overseas factories as Toyota's exports expanded.

Rival Nissan Motor Co. also reports robust figures for August. Its global production jumped almost 24 percent to 385,112 vehicles due to stronger overseas output. Production in Japan fell 2.5 percent.

Meanwhile, Honda Motor Co. continued to lose ground with global output falling 9.3 percent to 261,524 vehicles.
