CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) - A teenager has been sentenced to seven years in prison for stealing the car of Missouri Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder.
The Southeast Missourian reported (http://bit.ly/pP2Kvr) Tuesday that 18-year-old Jacob Shepard of Cape Girardeau was given a seven-year sentence for stealing the car. He also received a concurrent four-year sentence for property damage for crashing it into a gun store last April.
Shepard also was originally charged with torching the car, but that charge was dropped.
Shepard testified in August that he was under the influence of ecstasy and alcohol when he stole and rammed Kinder's car into the wall.
Twenty-one-year-old Adam Cromer also is charged with stealing, tampering and attempted burglary in the case. He has pleaded not guilty.
