Qantas cancels Australian flights due to strike

SYDNEY (AP) - Qantas Airways says a planned strike by its engineers is forcing it to cancel or delay several domestic flights.

The Australian airline says the one-hour strike in the southern Australian city of Melbourne on Friday will affect about 1,300 passengers.

The strike by the Australian Licenced Aircraft Engineers Association comes just days after a strike by Qantas ground workers. The Transport Workers Union strike led to the cancelation of 28 flights and disrupted travel plans for 6,100 passengers.

The unions are fighting the airline over pay and work conditions.

Qantas says two flights on Friday are canceled and another six delayed by up to an hour.
