The Jefferson City Jayettes, a long-lost high school pep club, will be making a comeback — at least temporarily.
Lisa Steppelman, Kelly Steppelman-Verslues, and Betsy Dudenhoeffer are organizing a group of former Jayettes to cheer when the Jays play Rockhurst on Oct. 7.
According to Dudenhoeffer, the club was started in the early 1940s and disbanded sometime around 1994.
Besides the excitement of reviving a Jefferson City High School tradition, they hope to show current high school students “how it used to be, how powerful a team can be with pep,” said Steppelman.
