Wes Scott and John Walther remember buying their first cars just before they turned 16. Now, more than 40 years later, both are preparing to show the same cars at the 42nd Annual Mid Mo Old Car Club Round-up and Show.

Scott and Walther both have the same Model A Fords, new in 1929, that they purchased in the 1960s. Scott said he paid $50 for his Model A in January 1961. Walther said he purchased his one month before his 16th birthday in 1966 for $300.

Both plan to show their restored vehicles Sept. 24 at the car show at the Old Munichburg Oktoberfest in Jefferson City.

Registration for the show is from 8-11 a.m. Sept. 24 with "drive-thru judging" at 11:30 a.m. Registration is $12, but Scott said the fee is waived for anyone bringing a car from 1931 or before. An awards ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. The show is free to the public.
