Bustamante appears at closed hearing

With Alyssa Bustamante present for the first time in more than a year, her public defenders met Friday morning with Cole County prosecutors and Presiding Circuit Judge Patricia Joyce for a closed hearing on the status of the teen's murder case.

According to Joyce's docket entry in the case file, posted online on the Case.net state courts reporting system, "Evidence adduced (was taken) on Motion. Case taken under advisement."

Bustamante, 17, is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the Oct. 21, 2009, death of Elizabeth Olten, 9, who lived about a quarter-mile north of Bustamante's family's home on Lomo Drive (Route D) in St. Martins.
