CHARLESTON, Mo. (AP) — A southeast Missouri man who admitted serving as the lookout in a Cape Girardeau triple homicide has been sentenced to 20 years.
KFVS-TV reports (http://bit.ly/mQfY96 ) that Samuel "Ray Ray" Hughes could have received a 30-year term instead of the shorter sentence imposed Tuesday in Mississippi County Circuit Court.
Hughes pleaded guilty last December to one count of second-degree murder in the 2009 shooting deaths of Jamie Orman, her unborn child and her teenage son at a home in Cape Girardeau.
Orman was living with the estranged husband of Michelle Lawrence, who hatched the plot. Lawrence has been convicted and sentenced to 15 years.
The gunman, Ryan Patterson, was dating Michelle Lawrence at the time of the killings. Patterson faces sentencing next week on three counts of first-degree murder.
