KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) - The Environmental Protection Agency says a waste company has agreed to pay a fine for violating federal and state hazardous waste disposal laws at a facility in central Missouri.
The EPA's regional office in Kansas City, Kan., said Tuesday that Waste Management LampTracker Inc. has agreed to pay $118,800 to settle the violations at its facility in Kaiser, Mo. The EPA says the violations were found at the site during visits in August. The EPA says the company recycles batteries, equipment containing mercury and other items at the site.
The agency says Waste Management LampTracker was cited for several issues, including inadequate waste container management, inadequate facility management and failure to comply with universal waste requirements.
The company did not return a call seeking comment Tuesday.
