Sports Commentary: Timing is everything

It’s just a matter of being bad or good

Sports, like life, is all about timing.

• There’s bad timing, like the brief rainstorm that stopped by the Capital City Invitational on Saturday.

The unfortunate cloudburst forced a stoppage in the third-place game between the Fatima Lady Comets and Centralia Lady Panthers.

With a pair of not-great options that could have given a win to either side, the tournament organizers did their best imitation of Solomon and decided to call it a tie.

The move spared some other timing, as in the long time fans and players could have had waiting for lightning to leave the area.

• There’s good timing, like when you’ve got time on your side.

Which is just what the Missouri Tigers have, even in popular opinion may say otherwise. It’s amazing to me how quickly the “faithful” turned on the Tigers after Friday night’s overtime loss at Arizona State.
