JazzFest a highlight of Saturday’s events

Creativity will be in the air, wrapping around High and Madison streets in downtown Jefferson City on Saturday.

The third day of the Connect to the Arts Festival downtown will begin at noon, following the 11 a.m. Labor Day Parade.

The opening welcome at 12:30 p.m. will follow the first musical performance.

The Jefferson City Symphony Orchestra’s chamber ensemble will perform throughout the day at the children’s area in the 100 block of Madison Street and Scene One Theatre performers will mingle in costume.

The Hennessy Brothers, including guitarist Sean and bassist Kevin, will kick off the main stage JazzFest performances 1-2 p.m.

Many acts will follow, and before GrooveThang closes out the evening at the Bud Light Street Party from 8-10 p.m., R2R-DevinePower Production will perform at 7:30 p.m.

The seven-piece St. Louis band GrooveThang is known for its reproduction of musical groups including Steely Dan, Earth Wind and Fire, The Doobie Brothers, Chicago, Al Green and The Bee Gees.

A Taste of Missouri wine-tasting event will be from 4-7 p.m. Tickets are available at Cork Restaurant and The Art Bazaar downtown for $10.
