Thursday Night Live to kick off Connect to the Arts festival

Festival season has returned with the month's only Thursday Night Live kicking off the three-day Connect to the Arts festival.

Event producer Jill Snodgrass with Daily Plan-It said the event tonight in Jefferson City will feature a country rock theme with three bands sponsored by local bars and the second annual Soup Stock event. Thursday Night Live begins at 6 p.m. and runs till 9 p.m.

The only Thursday Night Live in September will feature Russell Stegman and Robbie Bax, sponsored by Mortimer Kegley's, followed by Five TurnKnot, sponsored by the Spot, and HayWyre, sponsored by Bones in the Alley.

Snodgrass said this month, Thursday Night Live is being put under an "umbrella" with the Missouri River Regional Library Concert and Jazzfest to create a full weekend of events.

She said Thursday Night Live, as always, is free and open to the public, while wristbands and cups for the festival district open consumption will cost $1 and be available at any participating bar.

For the Soup Stock event, Snodgrass said 13 restaurants are taking part, offering a total of 18 soups to try.

Tickets cost $5 and one donation of a canned good and can be purchased at the event. All proceeds, and canned goods, will be donated to the Samaritan Center.
